McLaren announced back in February that its newest supercar,  the 720S , could run the quarter-mile in a scant 10.3 seconds. Now, owners are getting their hands on cars, and they're finding it can go even quicker. Brooks from  DragTimes  recently took delivery of a 720S and decided to take it to the drag strip at Palm Beach International Raceway. On one of his passes, he was able to record a quarter-mile time of 9.98 seconds at 141 mph—more than 0.3 seconds quicker than the factory's time. Brooks made it clear the car was completely unmodified, right down to the OEM P Zero tires. During the run, Brooks also recorded a 0-60 times of 2.5 seconds and a 0-100 times of 5.2 seconds. The first X3 M performance vehicle, which is part of an all-new third-generation X3 family is scheduled for debuting in 2018.  And like a proper M, it moves when you drop the hammer. A 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder sits under the hood cranking out 355 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, with the latter present between 1,520 and 4,800 rpm. An eight-speed ZF automatic transmission routes power to all four wheels getting it to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds to beat out other midsize performance crossovers like the Porsche Macan S (5.2 seconds), Audi SQ5 (5.1 seconds) and Mercedes-AMG GLC43 (4.8 seconds). Fuel economy numbers aren't available yet, but the outgoing X3 xDrive35i with a 300-horsepower version of the 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder and eight-speed automatic gearbox carried a 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway ratings. It is no longer news that Mercedes Benz is the top selling luxury brand in the world. A feat they achieved and have been holding on to since 2016. in 2016 a total of 2,083,888 vehicles were sold under the Daimler AG brand which comprises the Mercedes Benz and Smart brands. BMW on the other hand sold 2,003,359 units inclusive of Rolls Royce and the Mini brands. while Audi on the other hand sold 1.871,350. In the current year, Mercedes-Benz widened its lead in global luxury car sales as the revamped E-Class sedan and a range of fresh sport utility vehicles fueled growth that outpaced BMW and Audi. Deliveries at Daimler AG’s Mercedes jumped 12 percent to 1.72 million vehicles in the first nine months of 2017. The growth rate was triple the 3.9 percent increase posted by BMW AG’s namesake brand, which sold 1.54 million cars.
