BMW M3 30th American Edition.

Image
The BMW M3 first made its way to America in 1987, and since then it's terrorized both the street and race tracks. And to celebrate 30 years of the M3 in the U.S. market, BMW is selling a one-of-one model. It’s red on the outside, but open the doors and you’ll find a bold interior with red, white, and blue materials. A 2018 M3 equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and competition package serves as the foundation for the celebratory vehicle. From there numerous BMW Individual goodies help visually set it apart, including a Frozen Red II Metallic paint job, exclusive carbon-fiber side sills, wing and M color stripes on the carbon roof panel. Maybe the most appetizing part of the look are the bespoke golden wheels, which are surrounded by Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The 2018 BMW M3 “30 Years American Edition” is based off the M3 Competition Package, which makes 444 hp. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission as well as a host of M Performance

Polestar Is The Car Brand Tesla Should Be Really Worried About

Image
While many are getting excited about taking delivery of their Tesla Model 3s, despite once again the company being nowhere near its projected production numbers, in Shanghai this week Volvo unveiled its new 600hp Polestar 1, set to roll off the production line in mid-2019. What was clear from the launch was that these new cars, especially the pure electric brother of the 1, the Polestar 2 coming later in 2019, pose a major threat to Tesla's share of the EV market. Indeed, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath has stated publicly that the 2 is designed to go head-to-head with the California firm's new Model 3. Polestar is Volvo's standalone premium electric-vehicle arm, and Volvo's Chinese owner, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, has pledged to invest $755 million to develop the company. The Polestar models will be built at its new plant in the western Chinese city of Chengdu, which already has a Volvo factory. Tesla should be worried, too. It may have had the jump on tradition

A BMW Z8 Formerly Owned By Steve Jobs Is Up For Auction

Image
There’s something about celebrity that tends to drive us hoi polloi to take leave of our senses. Case in point? Paul Newman’s old Rolex Daytona, which just sold for $17.8m USD. And, as much as we have maintained a man-crush on Mr Newman over the years, it is too damn much for something that fits on your wrist. But what about cars? Don’t even get us started on the silly money that a little celebrity ownership can garner – especially if the car is rare and desirable to begin with. Well, BMW only made 5,700 Z8s over five years, and most tended to find their way into the hands of the rich and famous. This one? None other than Steve Jobs. And, even if you’re an Android fanboy, you’re likely to want this one. Not only is it rare as a cockerel’s bicuspid, but this particular example has been obsessively cared for and driven just 15,000 miles. Jobs bought the Z8 in California, way back in October of the year 2000, even going as far as to register it with vanity plates. And this is

3 New Cars We Are Yet To See On Nigerian Roads

Image
It's a general belief that Nigerians don't carry last when it comes to exotic automobiles. Some vehicles we didn't even expect to see on our roads have been bought and driven (Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F12 Berlinatta etc). But when some cars you expect to be players on the road become missing in action, then you begin to wonder what happened along the line. Could it be car lovers don't like them around here or nobody is just paying attention? It would be surprising that such cars have been spotted severally in neighbouring countries like Ghana and Ivory coast. At least those are the closest rivals to Nigeria when it comes to automobile in West Africa. We can't say Africa at large because Nigeria is nowhere near South Africa, Morocco and Egypt. Perhaps we are going to have that discussion some day about which country leads the pack in cars on the African continent. These are cars that have been reviewed online and their ratings are good. Here is a list of three of

The Difference Between 4WDs And AWDs

The terms 4WD (four-wheel-drive) and AWD (all-wheel-drive) are similar technologies- which involve the transmission of power to all the wheels of a car, unlike that of other vehicles in which either the front or rear wheels are driven. Most SUV's and Pick-up trucks offer 4WD or AWD systems, some compact cars like the Audi A4, Mercedes C-class,Toyota matrix and Mitsubishi Lancer have AWD variants as well. Many manufacturers have ended up confusing consumers with obscure names like 'Active 4WD’, ‘Real-Time 4WD’, ‘Quattro’,‘4matic’,‘Xdrive’ ‘Quadra-drive’ etc. It is important to know the optimal type required prior to the purchase of a vehicle. There are different types of 4WD and AWD systems, which are optimized for different terrains – hence,it is important to know which one best suits your need(s). 4WD types 1. PART-TIME 4WD: This is a system that can only be used some of the time in four-wheel drive mode. It is designed to be used in adverse terrain conditions and can no

Driving the New Rolls-Royce Phantom Is an Exercise in Serious Luxury

Image
After more than a decade, the historic brand is relaunching its flagship sedan. The result is a $450,000 hunk of power and opulence. For the first time since 2003, the carmaker has orchestrated a complete update on the model—only the second time it’s done so under BMW Group ownership. The Phantom is the marque that John Lennon and Elvis Presley drove, the one Queen Elizabeth commissioned as her preferred mode of travel. First designed in 1925 by Henry Royce himself, it’s the oldest automotive model still produced today. Last year, Phantom sales generated about 15 percent of Rolls-Royce’s revenue in the Americas; it’s the company’s single-biggest money-making series. It’s also the largest vehicle Rolls-Royce makes, with a 6.75-liter, 563-brake-horsepower, V12 engine powerful enough to run a tank. The Phantom can hit 60 mph in just over five seconds—remarkable for a car of its heft. To appreciate the $450,000 vehicle’s full glory, start with its outside and admire the sheer

2019 Audi A7 First Look: Four-Door Fastback Gets Techier

Image
Revealed at an event in Audi’s hometown of Ingolstadt, Germany, the 2019 A7 hatchback is packed with a full array of semi-autonomous driving tech and the same multimedia system from the recently revealed A8 full-size luxury sedan. Like its predecessor, the 2019 Audi A7 is a hatchback with a coupe-like roofline, and will compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class and BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo. In Europe (but not in the U.S.), the A7 will feature Audi’s new naming strategy with the 55 TFSI model launching first. Although the 2019 A7’s silhouette hasn’t changed much, plenty of styling cues distinguish the new Audi from its predecessor including full-length LED taillights, a wider trapezoidal grille, thinner LED headlights, and larger openings in the lower front fascia in the S Line variant. The 2019 A7’s overall exterior styling follows that of the larger A8, which introduced Audi’s latest design language earlier this year. Alloy wheels are available up to 21 inches in diameter while, at

Bugatti and Koenisegg Beware, The Apollo IE is Coming

Flip this into… 2 likes Leave a comment Share on New life gets breathed  into Gumpert Between 2005 and 2012, a German supercar manufacturer called  Gumpert  built what is likely the most divisive of supercars, the Apollo. While its performance credentials were better than most track-based thoroughbreds, the looks were anything but desirable thanks to a focus on downforce and downforce alone. Styling, apparently, was never part of the picture and the end result was a supercar that resembled a piece of cleaved beef (see for yourself in the gallery below). Now, the company is back, it’s dropped the unappealing Gumpert name, and says it will introduce a better-looking hypercar called the Apollo Intensa Emozione (IE). Little is known about the upcoming IE hypercar other than what is shown in the short 40-second teaser below. From what we can discern, the IE will look at least as extreme as recent hypercar entries like the  Aston Martin Valkyrie  and  Mercedes
