Ahead of the LA Auto Show, peep into the 2019 CLS

Image
Mercedes-Benz doesn’t seem able to contain itself from showing us its redesigned CLS ahead of the debut in a little over a week at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. The third generation of the iconic fastback sedan has been testing in the wild for over a year and now we have our first clear look at the interior. It follows Saturday's first official look at the exterior. While the exterior of the car doesn’t appear to be straying far from the shapely albeit somewhat subdued lines of the outgoing model, the interior appears to be taking a marked step up in quality and design. The turbine-style air vents and digital dash looks very modern. You’ll also notice the dual screens, one for the instrument cluster and the other the infotainment system, are enclosed within a single pane of glass just like on the latest S-Class models. We’re still waiting for all the details but the new CLS, which goes on sale next year, as a 2019 model, is expected to be fitted a...

Transmission

The transmission is the gearbox and clutch, which transmits and converts power from the engine into twist (rotational force) for the wheels. The clutch engages or disconnects the turning engine from the gears as they are shifted up, down, or into neutral. This is particularly important when coming to a stop to keep the engine idling – if you didn’t have a clutch, the engine’s rotation locked to the gear would wind down to a shuddering halt, and stall. We’ve all done that more than once… Gears are the way of best harnessing and optimising the engine’s power no matter what speed you are travelling.  A low gear (first or second) produces more force at lower speeds, i.e. to get you off the line, while a high gear produces less force at higher speeds to keep you rolling along rapidly. There are basically four types of transmissions. *The original and still the simplest type of transmission is the manual, named for its need for manual selection of the gears via the stick shift and ...

Tesla Roadster: New Quickest Car on The Planet.

Image
Tesla just gave us another surprise; the return of the Roadster. But it’s no repeat performance. The stunning four-seater roadster boasts jaw-dropping numbers, that if they measure up to Musk’s (CEO of Tesla) claims, will make it the world’s fastest production car. The car which Musk described as a “smackdown” to the fossil fuel-addicted auto industry is expected to cause Porsche and Ferrari to break a sweat. Musk claimed the base model will do zero to 60 in 1.9 seconds, which if true would make it the first time a production vehicle cracked the 2-second threshold. He also said the new Roadster would climb from 0 to 100 mph in 4.2 seconds, and will clear the quarter mile in 8.9 seconds (in case the Fast & Furious drag race franchise comes calling.) “It’ll be faster than that jet over there,” Musk quipped, as an airplane soared over the exultant crowd crammed into Tesla’s Hawthorne, California facility. Musk said he wouldn’t confirm the top speed, but hinted that it was ...

And The Award For The SUV Of The Year Goes To..........

Image
The Mercedes Benz GLC is the 2017 Motor Trend SUV of the year. Mercedes-Benz is no stranger to SUV of the Year honors. The venerable Stuttgart brand has twice before taken home the Golden Calipers, once in 2007 for the three-row GL-Class and again six years later for the second-generation GL. It couldn’t come at a better time for Mercedes. Saying the crossover SUV segment is on fire isn’t strong enough. Small and midsize premium SUVs have achieved critical mass while other perennially strong segments are melting down. As of August, small luxury SUV sales are up 25.4 percent compared to 2015. Also remember that because they’re “premium,” these little car-based runabouts are hugely profitable. Expect the GLC to provide a nice contribution to the Daimler bottom line, as Mercedes-Benz is bringing the right weapon to the right battle at precisely the right time. The name was changed from GLK to GLC to comply with Mercedes’ new naming convention. It’s logical if you think about it....

Reasons People Buy Super Cars

Image
Below are top nine reasons people go for luxury and hyper cars 1. Attention If you own a luxury car, then you know what I'm talking about. If you don't own one, you still know what I'm talking about. When you see a Lamborghini or a Ferrari driving down the road, looking at it is almost a reflex. Every day you can see people taking photos of a parked super-car. There is something about these fantastic machines that simply pulls us towards them – all of us men and women. Now, if you own one such car, you are probably used to all the attention your car is getting. It might have felt a bit weird in the beginning, but you liked it anyway. And it is not just about the attention people pay to your car; you also get plenty, as the driver (and the owner). People simply look at you differently; they admire you, they envy you; hell, they hate you, but it all feels good at times, if not most of the time. 2. Passion for Driving and/or Addiction to Adrenaline Some people are tr...

The Best Luxury Cars You Can Buy

Image
In the old days, a luxury car simply needed acres of wood trim, a herd’s worth of leather, and a powerful engine to woo buyers. Times have changed. Tech is the new measuring stick in the luxury segment, and every automaker needs to offer a wide panoply of innovative features to stay relevant. Those who don’t risk getting left behind, unless they have a very good reason not to get with the times. The cut-throat luxury car segment is bigger than ever; it’s grown to include numerous sedans, limousines, SUVs, coupes, and convertibles. There are options for buyers who need to keep a low-profile (be it for personal or safety reasons), and there are also models that will delight customers who want to make an entrance every time. Overall Best Luxury Car: Mercedes-Benz S-Class Why should you buy this: It’s the luxury sedan that says, “I’ve made it.” Who’s it for: Executives, entrepreneurs, rappers.
