Top 5 Cars Expected to Rule Nigeria in 2018

As the year 2017 winds down, we can tell you that our automotive terrain has witnessed a lot of advancement in the course of the year. With the influx of cars from various manufacturers across the globe, Nigeria is definitely a country to beat on the African continent.

Below are the top 5 cars we await to further influence our driving experience come 2018;
2018 Toyota Camry
2018 Honda Accord
2018 BMW 5 Series
2018 Mercedes Benz S-Class facelift
Rolls Royce Phantom VIII

Toyota Camry
The 2018 Toyota Camry is the latest generation of the mid-size sedan that’s been adjudged the best-seller in Nigeria for almost a decade.

In an effort to banish the Camry’s bland image, Toyota gave the latest generation a more expressive design, used a more sophisticated suspension to improve driving and handling, and delivered better fuel efficiency than any previous Camry lineup. Five trim levels are offered: a base L, a mid-grade LE, and a better-equipped XLE, plus the sporty SE and upscale XSE. The Camry Hybrid has three versions: LE, SE, and XLE.
It faces stiff competition from a new version of its long-standing rival, the Honda Accord, plus a major revamp of the popular Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, and Nissan Altima.
The price is expected to start from maybe N25m

Honda Accord
Marking the Accord's 40th anniversary, the all-new 2018 shares little with its predecessors. It's more dramatic looking with a fastback-like shape. It looks larger, but it's not. The Accord is a little under an inch shorter than before. But a longer wheelbase provides a couple of inches more legroom in the rear and helps the trunk's volume increase by nearly a cubic foot over the outgoing model.
A 1.5-liter turbo-4 mates either to a CVT or, in Sport trim levels, a 6-speed manual. It's rated at at 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. Optional on most trim levels is a 2.0-liter turbo-4 that replaces the outgoing V-6. At 252 hp and 273 lb-ft, it offers more torque but less horsepower. The bigger engine is related to that used in the Honda Civic Type R and, like that hot hatch, it's available with a 6-speed manual on the Accord Sport. Most models will undoubtedly be fitted with a 10-speed automatic, however.
As before, all Accords are front-wheel drive.
Honda has made its Honda Sensing suite of safety features—automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitors—standard on every version of the Accord for 2018.
price is expected to start from N25m

BMW 5-Series
BMW’s redesigned 5-Series was a late arrival for the 2017 model year. That’s why the automaker has already announced the 2018 5-Series which sees the lineup expanded with plug-in and performance-oriented models.
The M550i is the latest from BMW’s M Performance family. It features a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 delivering 456 hp and 480 lb-ft, an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The result is 0-60 mph acceleration in 3.9 seconds, making it quicker than the outgoing M5. Top speed is governed to 155 mph.
The 530i and 540i continue with a 248-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 and 335-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6, respectively.

Moving inside, all 2018 5-Series models feature a raft of tech features including BMW’s iDrive interface with touchscreen; a driver-focused cockpit; and self-driving tech that includes a parking assistant that parks the car without you inside. Safety features are a big push too with adaptive cruise control, head-up display and surround view cameras all available.
Price is expected to start from around N30m

Mercedes Benz S-Class Facelift
The undisputed leader in the premium segment with regards to comfort and wellness sets new standards in the interior with the new generation of dual 12.3" high-resolution displays with a single bonded glass panel, new trim options and new upholstery offerings.
The top-of-the-range Mercedes-Benz sedan takes another big step towards the future of autonomous driving and elevates Intelligent Drive to the next level. For example, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist now provide even more support for the driver to keep a safe distance and steer. The speed is now adjusted automatically ahead of curves or junctions.

Further unique features of the S-Class in its segment include the The three accents of light as an exclusive exterior design feature (LED Intelligent Light System with Ultra Wide Beam), Road Surface Scan (the forward-looking detection of bumps) and curve-tilting function.
The Mercedes-Benz flagship model was the best-selling luxury sedan in the world in 2016. Since 2013, the company has sold well over 300,000 sedans. And this time you would have to get some almost 80 to 100 million naira ready to get one delivered to you depending on the options you choose.

Rolls Royce Phantom VIII
The Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII is a luxury saloon car manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. It is the eighth and current generation of Rolls-Royce Phantom and the second Phantom launched by Rolls-Royce under BMW ownership and has been completely redesigned and re-engineered from the ground up. It has been in development for six years and is the first in a series of all-new Rolls Royces built on a bespoke aluminium space frame architecture.
it features a 6.75L twin turbo v12 engine and 8-speed automatic transmission to complement its bespoke look.
Price for the phantom VIII has not been announced yet, but be sure to come in the region of 250 to 300 million naira.

Other cars expected in the country in 2018 includes but not limited to Porsche Cayene, Porsche Panamera, Range Rover Velar and 2018 Toyota Prado.
